EXCURSION TO PICTON

Wahine on Anniversary Day

The 4500-ton express steamer Wahtne will make an excursion from Wellingtin to Picton on Anniversary Day, Tuesday. January 22, leaving the wharf here at 8 a.tn. She should make the 52-mile tvin to Pieton, only half of which is in the open water of the Strait, in well under three hours. After her arrival at Pieton a special train will leave for Blenheim, returning to Picton in time to catch the Wahine on the trip back. Launches will run from the wharf to various places of interest about the upper end of Queen Charlotte Sound. The steamer Tuatea will also make a three-hour cruise from Pieton about the head of the Sound, and to beautiful Double Bay. At 1.30 p.m. there will be a race for the Masport Speed-boat Cup, the time having been specially fixed to enable the Wahine’s excursionists to witness the event. Other launch and outboard races will also be held during the Wahine’s stay at Pieton. The Vessel will leave on her return nt 2.30 p.m.. arriving back in Wellington about 5.30 p.m.
