POWER-BOAT RACING

Championship This Month By Telegraph - Press Association. Blenheim, January 9. Prospects are for at least six starters in the New Zealand Powerboat championship race for the Masport Cup on Pictor Harbour on January 22. Perano Bros., of Tory Channel, will be defending the title in Tory Chick, while the challengers include Dunedin, Wanganui, Havelock and Blenheim ’boats. Entries have not yet closed.

The race will cover a distance of 16 miles, entailing four circuits of four miles over a triangular course, extending from the railway wharf to out•side'Mabei Island and back. The contest will take place while the Wellington Anniversary Day excursionists are in Picton.
