Manufacture of Motor ’ Vehicles in Britain MORE EXPORTS HOPED FOR (British Official Wireless.) (Received January 8. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, January 7. The British Society of Motor Manufacturers records a steady increase in production during the last year, when 256.866 private cars and 85,633 commercial vehicles were manufactured, compared with 220,779 and 65,508 in the previous year. Export trade also increased, but not sufficiently to satisfy manufacturers. They anticipate that their export trade will be greatly helped by a 25 per cent, reduction from the beginning of this year in the British horse-power tax whit;!} should increase the home demand for bigger ears, and thus enable reductions in price to be made both for the home and export trade.
