Sii’ M. Hankey in Dominion
By Telegraph—Press Association
Christchurch, January 8.
“No request of any kind was made by Sir Maurice Hankey when he conferred with us a few weeks ago? stated the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, in reply to a question as to whether the Secretary to the Committee of Imperial Defence had asked while in New Zealand for the reinstitution of compulsory military service or for greater armaments expenditure. Mr. Forbes said that Sir Maurice Hankey met Cabinet at a speciallyconvened meeting, and all that took place was that the steps taken by New Zealand in the past year were clearly stated to Sir Maurice, who expressed himself as satisfied with what he had heard. He made no request of any kind at all.
