CAUGHT BY WIND GUST
Berthing Mishap at Bluff WAITAKI BLOWN ON ROCKS By Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercargill, January 8. AVhile berthing at Bluff shortly after 11 o’clock this morning, the steamer AVaitaki was caught by a heavy gust of wind and blown on the rocks to the south of the main wharf.
With the assistance of a tug and the Using tide the AVaitaki was towed off and berthed at 12.30 p.m. Apparently therb is no serious damage, but it. is understood that an examination will be made by a diver this afternoon.
Later it was reported that no dagiage whatever was sustained by the vessel while on the sandbank. AVork on her will therefore be carried out to-morrow, and she is expected to sail in the evening for Oamaru.
