MANAMA’S SOUNDS CRUISE
D'Urville Island, almost unknown to the average New Zealander, will be the first objective of Ihe Marama’s cruise commencing at Wellington on Monday, January 28. For one day the quiet shores of Port Hardy will be disturbed by the shouts and laughter of bathing, fislt;ng and picnic parties, and in the evening the latest dance music will sound across the waters, Next Queen Charlotte Sound will be explored, starting with Ship Cove, Captain Cook’s southern headquarters on bis famous voyages, where a landing will be made to view this beautiful spot aud to inspect the memorial set up there in 1913. A third day tyill be devoted lo Pelorus Sound, the mdrning being spent in the lovely reaches of the Kenepuru Arm, and Tennyson Inlet being reached later in the day. A fancy dress ball will be held here on this the final evening of the cruise.
Tlie Marama will leave the wharf at Wellington at 8 p.m. on Monday, January 28, anchoring out in the harbour for an introductory dance till about 11 p.m., when she will proceed on her way. The return to Wellington will be made at about 9 a.m. on Friday, February 1,
