VALUELESS CHEQUES

Christchurch, January 8.

At the Magistrate’s Court to-day, Leonard Cecil McKinnon, aged 34, described as a chemist of Auckland, was sentenced to a year’s imprisonment for passing valueless cheques and to three months’ imprisonment for stealing nine hats, the sentences to be cumulative.

The police said that the man had a bad record. He was already serving a sentence in Auckland for passing a valueless cheque.
