LONDON BETTER
Comparison With Other
World Cities
Loudon seemed to have been getting over the depression better than any of the cities he saw in other parts of the world, said Mr. D. L. McWilliam. of Sydney, who, returning from a world tour, was a through passenger in the Maunganui, which arrived in Wellington yesterday from San Francisco. Concerning New York, he commented: “In my opinion, the tide of the depression there has not turned, and I think it will be some time before there is any real sign of it. Many people I spoke to seemed to think that President Roosevelt’s methods were merely a scratching about on the surface,” He remarked that, when he was in France and Switzerland, he had been surprised to see so few tourists.
