FOURS RACE ROWED
Wareham Cup Results The Wellington Rowing Club rowed off its four-oared race for the Wareham Cup in fine weather on the town course on Saturday afternoon. Five crews entered, and there was some good racing. The results were as follow.: — First heat: A. Green, W. Doidge, E. Woolcott, R. Nicholson, 1; W. McLean, W. Mclvor, H. Tomlinson, A. Watson, 2; J. Luke, V. Morris, R. Tregurtha, J. Butler, 3. Second heat: H; Spoor, T. Lancaster, R. Paterson, F. Thornton, 1; C. Carpenter, A. Anderson, F. Meredith, W. Green, 2. In the final H. Spoor’s crew defeated Green’s by four lengths. Spoor took the lead from the start, and was never seriously challenged, Green setting a slow start and shortening too much. A false start in the final vvas brought about by a narrowly averted collision with a single. It was noted that the steering, which was done by club members, was definitely bad.
