NEW ZEALAND SHOP
Advertising in London
(From a Correspondent.)
London, November 27. The New Zealand Government Publicity Department, in co-operation with the various produce boards, has arranged a “Dominion of New Zealand Shop” in London for the period of a month, states the “New Zealand News.” Mr. H. J. Pilbrow, chairman of the “British Trade Review,” has put the ground floor of a building in St. Paul s ehurchyard at the disposal of the Dominion free of rent for that period. The name of the shop is displayed in large coloured letters across the front of the premises. There is an attractive window display and, inside, an exhibition of Dominion produce. Scenic attractions are also advertised.
The unpardonable ignorance that was displayed in some parts of England concerning New Zealand was referred to by the High Commissioner, Sir James Parr, in his speech at the opening ceremony. He also hinted at a satisfactory solution of the meat question as a result of conferences w’ith Mr. Walter Elliot. “There must be a screw loose somewhere,” said Sir James, referring to people in the Midlands and North buying Danish butter which was retailed at five pence a pound more than New Zealand butter. Speeches were also made by Mr. David Jones, chairman of the New Zealand Meat Board, and British M.P.’s.
A sheet of parchment nearly three feet square was required for the Royal wedding certificate.
