Complaint Justified in Part

Sir,—Amid the welter of indignant letters following “Strewelpeter’s” lament, I have looked in vain for just one person who would admit that in some directions “Strewelpeter” was justified. in his complaint. Surely all will admit that there is not a really up-to-date saloon in Wellington. Even barbers themselves have expressed this opinion tft me. Ido sympathise with “Strewelpeter.” Some of the efforts perpetrated by barbers in this city on my unoffending head have been too terrible for words. . Having said that, I must now in fairness state that such a condition of affairs no longer exists. I now have a barber who gives me every satisfaction, and whom I am confident can also giie “Strewelpeter” what he desires. As “Strewelpeter” seems to travel the countryside, I would inform him that in Napier is to be found the best barber in New Zealand. Any barber who knows the man I refer to will endorse this statement. and many will supply the name. One point raised by a correspondent deserves comment, namely, that of the new price’of 1/3. Until I came to Wellington I had never paid less than 1/6. Ibe charge of 17- was an eye-opener to me, and I think that no one can complain of the very reasonable advance. —1 am. etc “ ‘ SAD. Wellington. January 2.
