WOMAN ASSAULTED
Assailant Convicted Pleading guilty to a charge of assaulting Lois Stella Yee Jung, John Fitzgerald, bricklayer, aged 35, appeared before Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday. It was stated in evidence that Mrs. Yee Jung, coming away from the Cosmopolitan Hall recently, was accosted by accused, who hailed her with the words, “Hallo, Sister!” She took no notice, but later when she was returning along Parish Street he again waylaid her and her husband, calling out in an abusive way, and asking whether she were satisfied. She slapped his face and he retaliated, striking her several blows. He was under the influence of liquor. Fitzgerald was convicted and fined £2/10/- and costs.
