ALLEGED CAR THEFT

Magistrate’s Court Business

Arrested when he was about to leave the country by the steamer Manama, John Simmons, aged 25, seaman, was charged before Mr. W. F. Stilwell, at the Magistrate’s Court, Wellington, last Saturday, with the theft of a motor-car valued at £SO, the properly of Mr. J. S. Dickinson, of Auckland, where the alleged crime was committed. Simmons was remanded to appear at Auckland on January St Remanded to appear this morning at the Magistrate’s Court ou a charge of attempting to steal 11/6 from the Postmaster-General at Petone. Frank Ernest Parker, aged 20, motor mechanic, was stated to have several further charges pending against him. A painter, Charles Rochester, aged 30, was convicted and fined 10/- on a second statutory offence of drunkenness.
