Japanese Swimmer’s Time NEW SOUTH WALES TITLES (Received January 6, 6.20 p.m.) Sydney, January 5. Three records were broken at the State swimming championships at the Domain baths to-day. The outstanding achievement was that of the Japanese, M. Kiyokawa, who lowered the 110 yards backstroke record by 4.355ec., winning the final by four yards. Chief results are:— ■

110yds. backstroke championship: M. Kiyokawa (Japan). 1.10 3-5, 1; R. Clark, 1.12 1-5, 2; V. Besomo. 1.16 1-5. 3.

220yds. championship: N. Ryan, 2.20 3-5, 1; B. Hodgson, 2.24 3-5, 2; Y. Sakagami (Japan), 2.26 4-5. 3. Ryan’s time equals the Australian record. The Japanese, Sakagami, was a sick man when he competed in the 220 yards event and is now in bed with influenza.

H. Tickle, the present title-holder, won the springboard diving championship. The other records mentioned related to juvenile events
