WEDDINGS
Lundon—Joslin The marriage took place recently at-, the Church of St. Therese, Karori, oft Kathleen, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs, F. Joslin, Wanganui, and Patrick Chanel, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lundon, Island Bay, Wellington. The bride wore a gown of beige lace, with hat and accessories to tone, and amber beads and earrings, the gift' of the bridegroom. She was attended by her sister, Miss Maisie Joslin, who wore a green georgette frock patterned in white, and a K green hat, and little Beverley Gruar, as flower girl, in yellow frilled frock and bonnet.
Mrs. Joslin, mother of the bride, was in a navy and white ensemble, with navy hat. Mrs. Ron. Stewart,.Fordeli, the bride’s sister, wore a brown and fawn suit with a fawn hat. Miss Lundon, sister of the bridegroom, wore blue and white frock, with blue coat and hat.
After the reception, at which relations and intimate friends only weie present, Mr. and Mrs. Lundon left by car for the north.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father Smythe.
Brooks—Howard The wedding was solemnised at St. John’s Church, Dannevirke, on New Year’s Day of Rona Annie, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Howard. “The Lawn,” Dannevirke, to Leo Vernon, eldest son of Mrs. and the late Mr. 11. Brooks, Greytown. The officiating minister was the Rev. G, B. Stephenson, and Mr. H. T. Russell presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore an ivory crepe morayle gown, with yoke and sleeves of Chantilly lace. Her embroidered veil was worn well off the face and finished with rows of tiny orange blossom, and her bouquet was of sweet peas and maidenhair fern.
Miss Doris Howard, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, while the bride’s small cousin, Norma Hollyman, was a flower-girl. They wore frocks of ap-ricot-flowered crepe voile, frilled to the ankles, and finished at the waist witlj blue velvet ribbon sashes. Each wofe a bandeau in her hair, and blue shoes and mittens to match, and carried flower muffs of sweet peas and maidenhair fern. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. Thomas Brooks, brother of the bridegroom. After the ceremony a reception was held at the De Luxe tea rooms, which were decorated with earnations and sweet pea.s. Mrs. Howard, the bride's mother, wearing a black ensemble, relieved with fawn, and with hat and shoes to tone, received the guests. The mother of the bridegroom, Mrs. Brooks, was also in black, relieved with green, with hat and shoes to match. Later Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Brooks left for the south, the bride travelling in brown marocain, with bat anil shoes to match. Their future home will be at Masterton. *.. * « Griffin—Aitken Bink- rambler roses and gypsophila decorated the Methodist Church, Marton, for the wedding of Alice, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. AV. G. Aitken, Marton, to Raymond, second son of Mr. and Mrs. A. 11. Griffin. "Wood Side,” Upper Tutaenui. The Rev. 11. Hull performed the ceremony, and Miss Betty Batchelor played the wedding music. The bride, who entered the church
with her father, wore a gown of ivory needlerun lace, flaring to a train. Her veil was of . brussels net, held with orange blossoms, and she carried a sheaf of lilies, manderilla and fern. The Misses Marjorie Aitken and Nina Griffin, who attended 'the bride, wore lettuce green and pink angelskin lace respectively, with velvet sashes and picture hats to match, and carried shower bouquets in tones of lemon and pink. Messrs. F. Hammond and J. Hawkins supported the bridegroom. A reception was held after the ceremony at Gould's, where Mrs. Aitken received her guests wearing plujp maroeain and hat to match. When Mr. and Mrs. Griffin left the latter wore a smart blue ensemble and musquash coat.
