Fancy Dress Dance

A fancy dress dance was held at the Majestic Hotel, Paraparaumu beach, on New Year’s Eve. The many novel and original costumes worn were judged, by Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Little and Miss Townsend and prizes for the most original were awarded to: Ladies, Miss Joan Chambers, Palmerston North, (Indian prince), and gentlemen, Mr. Eric Hogg, Wellington (mandarin). The Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss Dorothy. Nolan, Wellington, and Mr. H. D.owling, Napier. Among those in fancy dress were Mesdames S. Newman (Spanish lady), Mander (yachtsman), Chambers (Black and White), Misses Geraldine Litchfield (doll), Gladys Barrington (Grenadier Guard), Tassie Steel (hula girl), Norma Chambers (dancing doll)., Joy Sutherland (cricketer), Gardiner (coster),' Jeanette Little (cricketer), iiifiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiir

POTATO AND SAUSAGE ‘ ROLLS

Messrs. H. Dowling (young lady), Eric Hogg (mandarin), Murphy (baby boy), Ray Stevens (Little Boy Blue), Lonergan (Maori chief), Mirams (Gandhi), Gordon Cole (young lady), Parnell (Glengarry), Russell Hanco’ck (hula boy), S. Newman (toreador), Duncan (Chinaman). Others present included Mesdames Stevens, Parnell, Litchfield, Townsend, Little, Redwood, Lonergan, S. James, Spence/. Day, Wheatley,. Misses Redwood, Gilkison, Tilbury, Pejyy Bridge, Dorothy Nolan, Spence, Carberry, Kelly, Hardgrave, McGoldrick (2), Anderson, Grieg, Messrs. Spence, lan Galbraith, Day, Hickson, Wheatley and Little. Young Peoples’ Party Mr. and Mrs. Donald McLaren gave a most enjoyable dance at their lovely home, Mount Lofty, Levin, when over •50 young people from Dannevirke, Marton, - Palmerston North and Levin saw the old year out and the new year in. The music was excellent and extras were played by Miss Ryder, Miss Mary Smith, Mr. Pattie and Mr. G. Sorenson.
