NEW B.P. MOTOR-SHIPS

Neptun and Merkur The Norddeuischcr Lloyd motor-shipa Neptun and Merkur, which were bought recently by Burns, Philp and Co., Ltd., are to commence running for their new owners very shortly. With .the Neptuu Burns, Philp are inaugurating a new two-monthly service from Melbourne and Sydney to Kabaul, Sandakan, Manila and Hong-Kong, commencing early next month. The second vessel, the Merkur, will replace the Mangola In the company’s service from Australia to Java and Singapore and will make her first trip early in March. The Neptun and Merk-ur are new motorships of 6000 tons, fitted with all the latest devices for the comfort o£ passengers. The accommodation is on four decks, and consists of 40 single-berth and 20 two-Berth cabins, one class only being carried. The Blue Star Line has received cabled’ advice that its new motor-ship Imperial Star left Belfast in ballast at 9.30 a.m. on Thursday on her maiden voyage to NewZealand. The Nelson ferrv steamer Matangi is to leave Wellington at midnight to-morrow for Nelson, instead of at 7.30 p.m. to-day. THE CANADIAN SCOTTISH. . Canadian National Steamships have rereived cabled advice that the Canadian Scottish left Halifax on December 29 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff. She is due at Auckland on February 4. and is to clear Bluff on February 19 tor New York. Boston and Halifax. PORT FAIRY COMPLETING. The c. and D. Line motor-ship Port Fariy left Wellington yesterday for Port Chalmers to complete her Homeward loading. She is to clear the southern port iiually next Tuesday for London, via Cape Horn and Dakar. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. F. H. McMaster has been appointed second engineer of the Omana, in place of Mr. H. W. Insley. Jlr. It. H. O'Neill is now third officer of . the Tamahine, relieving Mr. E.
