In the chess championship in the eighth round Koshnitzsky defeated fereen, Fillian defeated Hynd, Purdy defeated Coultas, Condon defeated Greenfield, Thierjung defeated Crowl, Watson defeated Goldstein, Hastings defeated Lamparter. The leaders are: Purdy, 7-1 wins; Koshnitzsky, 7; Hastings, 6; Goldstein, 51; Crowl and Watson, 5.
