In the Sheffield Shield match against Queensland, who made 494, New South Wales followed up their first innings score of 318 by making 286 for the loss of four wickets (Fingleton 108, Kippax 40 not out, Oxenham two wickets for 92). Rain caused an abandonment of the match. Queensland won on the first innings by 177 runs.
