Steady Rainfall in Wellington

Steady rain fell in the city last evening. The weather was sultry and unsettled in Palmersto-n North, with frequent heavy showers of rain. Sultry conditions i>revailcd at Masterton. A few light showers of rain fell during the day, and conditions generally were unsettled.
The day was dull and close in Waipukurau, with occasional showers. The maximum temperature was 78deg. The barometer was 2S.9oin.
Dull weather was experienced in Auckland, the sky being heavily overcast. No rain fell. There was a strong breeze from the north-north-east. The barometer was steady at 29.60 in.
The weather was overcast in Christchurch in tlie morning, with frequent passing showers. Tho afternoon was fine but dull. A fresh south-west wind blew all clay. The maximum temperature was 62.9 degrees. The barometer registered 29.53iu. Heavy showers fell in Dunedin. A moderate south-west wind was blowing. The-maximum temperature was 55 degrees. The barometer has risen a few points, and last night the reading was 29.70 in.
