Recapture After Brief Liberty By Telegraph.—Press Association. Greymouth, January 3. Cyril Martin, aged, about ,22, arrested on warrant at Wanganui a few days ago and brought to Greymouth last evening under police escort, escaped from tlie Greymouth jail early this morning and took a taxi to his home at Kotuku. The escape was discovered about 9 o’clock, and soon afterward the police were advised of the man’s whereabouts. Two constables were dispatched and found Martin in his father’s car coming in the direction of Greymouth, his father driving. As soon as the car stopped Martin jumped out and dived into the river, which runs close to the road. The strong current, however, washed him tb the bank, and he was recaptured.
