ANNUAL CONGRESS

N.Z. Esperanto Association BUSINESS . CONCLUDED Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, January 2. The sixth annual congress of the New Zealand Esperanto Association, which was opened at Palmerston North on Monday by the Mayoy, Mr. A. E. Mansford, concluded its business today. Mr. W. L. Edmansou, president of the association, presided over a large attendance of delegates. Greetings--aud messages of 'goodwill were received from the Universal Esperanto Club (Geneva), and the Esperanto Clubs of Poland. Austria, Bulgaria, Danzig Free City, Britain. Australia. Yugoslavia, Norway Esthonia, Hungary, Argentina and Italy. The secretary, Mr. W H. King, reported to the annual meeting tnat 1934 had been the association’s most successful year. New clubs had been formed at Wanganui and Palmerston North, with classes at Nelson. Auckland and Hamilton. The meeting decided to bring Esperanto before the Government with a view to having it taught in schools and placed on the same level as foreign languages in the university curriculum. Tlie following officers were elected President, Mr. W. C. Edmanson (Wellington) ; vice-presidents. Messrs. H. F. Franks (Masterton), C. Brandon (Auckland), 11. E. Facer (Palmerston North). L. A. Efford (Christchurch) : treasurer, Mr. E. C. Jack (Wellington) ; secretary, Mr. W. 11. King (Wellington). Yesterday the delegates held a picnic at Bledisloe Park and a dance in the evening.
