Lord Bledisloe’s Message By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, January 2. The Governor-General, Lord BledisIoe„ sent the following message to the King on New Year’s Day :— “Your New Zealand' subjects of both races, and in every Walk of life, respectfully and affectionately wish ( your Majesties all joy and happiness during this historic year of the silver jubilee of your Majesty’s beneficent reign.— Bledisloe.”

His Majesty has replied as follows: “The Queen and I sincerely thank you for your message on behalf of my people in New Zealand, and I trust that the New Year may bring them happiness and prosperity.—George, RI.” ‘ '
