Northerly Wind in Wellington

Twenty-six points of rain fell in Wellington before 9 a.m. yesterday. Rain fell intermittently during the morning, and the day was dull and threatening. There was thunder between 9.15 and 9.30 a.m. A northerly wind prevailed throughout the day and freshened in the afternoon. The temperature at 4 pan, was 69.9 degrees, and the maximum temperature during the day was 71.9 degrees. Heavy showers of rain fell in Palmerston North, the temperature being ranch milder. Rain fell almost continuously at Masterton, until shortly after midday, when a farly strong northerly wind sprang up. Throughout the day, the temperature remained rather high. The morning was overcast and muggy in Waipukurau with a temperature at noon of 75. Warm rain began to fall at 1 p.m. and continued for three hours, when the weather cleared. The barometer dropped to 29. There was a continuation of changeable and unsettled weather in Auckland. A moderate to wind varied between north and east, and conditions at times were very wet. . Continuous rain fell during the early morning, and severe thunder storms and torrential rain in the afternoon was followed by frequent heavy showers. After falling all day the barometer registered 29.60 in.

The weather was tine and hot iu Christchurch. The maximum temperature was 82 degrees. The barometer fell during the day and registered 29,391 in, at 5 p.m. The weather in Dunedin was cloudy and tine, following a light rain on Tuesday night. A light south-west breeze was bioWing, anti the maximum temperature was 70 degrees. The barometer fell during the day and registered 29.50 last evening.
