NEW YEAR ACCIDENTS

Admissions to Hospital

A number of accident cases were admitted to the hospital after attention by the Wellington Free Ambulance during the last two days. A youth, Edward Wells, of 24 Emerson Street, Petone, who fell from the pillion seat of a motor-cycle in Victoria Street, Petone, suffered a fractured jaw and abrasions to tho face. Struck by a scaffolding plank in the Lower Hutt railway workshops, a man named G. L. Peck, of 13 Wal-ltl Avenue, Petone, received an injury to the left shoulder.

A bootmaker, G. A. Wilson, of 20 Freyberg Street, Lyall Bay, fractured his right leg through a fall. Mrs. B. Kelso, of 150 Adelaide Road, suffered a double fracture of the right leg, head injuries and shock, when she was struck by a motor-car in Adelaide Road, at about 8.50 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. .

A farmer, K. Gower, of Horokiwi, was run over by a dray and his back and stomach were crushed.

N. J. McKnlght, of 73 Ghuznee Street, a plumber, sprained bis right ankle through falling from a ladder at Paekakarlkl.

When a hand-rail collapsed Miss J. Forsythe, of 48a Northland Road, fell and received injuries to her side last Saturday morning. While cranking a niotol'-veliicle, a message boy, Ivan Dawson, received a fracture of the right arm at Petone Recreation Ground when the engine backfired.
