'1 ■ I Rain in Wellington Yesterday

On Monday the weather in Wellington was fine and warm, but a strong north-westerly wind blew throughout the day. The maxiinunl temperature was 75.3, and the minimum 63.2 degrees. Yesterday was dull and warm during most of the day, and in the afternoon rain fell. A northerly breeze prevailed. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 68 degrees. The weather was hot and sunny in Palmerston North until the mid-after-noon yesterday, when the sky clouded over. Rain commenced to. fall just before 5 p.m., and continued steadily for a#i hour and a half. The weather was fine in Wanganui on Monday, with a strong westerly breeze. Much-needed rain fell yesterday afternoon*.

The weather was very oppressive at Waipukurau on Monday, with a maximum temperature at 3 p.m. of 86, which .by 5 o'clock had fallen to 80. The ,‘barometer dropped two points to 29.30. Yesterday was brilliantly sunny with the temperature at 90 at 3 p.m. The barometer was steady qt 29.20. The spell of fine summer weather which had prevailed for over a week at Auckland continued on Monday, but yesterday a . fresh breeze was blowing from the north and conditions were overcast and threatening, showers being experienced after midday. The barometer is falling and registered 29.85.

The weather was tine and hot in Christchurch on Monday with a maximum temperature of 83.5 degrees. Yesterday morning was dull and warm with intermittent light rain, and when conditions cleare’d at noon 17 points had fallen. The afternoon was fine and muggy.

Cloudy and unsettled weather, was experienced in Dunedin on Monday, but conditions w r ere warm, the maximum temperature being 71 degrees. Conditions were overcast yesterday morning, but the afternoon was sunny and warm with light variable winds. The thermometer registered 60 degrees at 8 a.m., and the maximum temperature for the day was 72 degrees. The barometer fell to 29.60 inches.
