A QUEER GIFT

Model of African Witch Doctor

The queerest wedding gift so far was presented to the Duke of Kent last month. It is a model of a Zulu witch doctor.

The donor, as mayor of a South African town, entertained the Duke during his recent tour, when he met the witch doctor SaknsransUa, powerful among the natives. Mr. H. Erynevelt, the artist who made the two-foot coloured model with cement, plaster and clay, died within two weeks of completing it. An audience was given by the Duke at St. James’s Palace to the donor to allow him to deliver his gift personally.
