Barnes Cup Race The Pliminertoii Yachting Club held a handicap race on Saturday for the Barnes Cup. There was a strong south wind blowing, with a rather choppy sea. Ten boats started, including Kotuku from Paremata. The course set was a heavy beat from the club-house to Bar Bay arid a spinnaker run back to the club-house, twice round. After a good start Kotuku rounded the Bar Bay buoy first, closely followed by Kia Ora, Clyde and Huia. Watti was first round of the small boats, followed by Swallow and Vanitie. with the' rest of the fleet close up. The order of the boats at the end of.the first round wa<: Kotuku, Kia Ora, Clyde, Huia, Watti, Swallow. Vanitie. Paerata. Juneta, Corsair. ■ In the second beat to Bar Bay, Clyde over took Kotuku and Kia Ora, and was first round the buoy. Watti still ahead of the Takapunas. After the filial run for the home mark the boats crossed the finishing liife in the following order: Kotuku. Clyde Kia Ora, Huia, Watti, Swallow. Juneta. Vanite, Paerata, Corsair.
