Waller Back From Congo MAILS DELIVERED (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, December 28. Mr. Kenneth Waller, the British airman, who with Captain Franehomine used the De Havilland,-Comet machine, “Queen Astrid,” to demonstrate the possibilities of a fast air-mail service between Brussels and the Belgian Congo, to-day reached Brussels on the last stage of tlie return journey. He landed at Oran yesterday evening after an uneventful 1500 miles’ flight across the Sahara and over the Atlas Mountains range from Niamey, French West Africa. He completed the flight from Oran to Brussels in time for the mail to be delivered in the Belgian capital this‘evening. The airmen arrived at noon. They were welcomed by a large gathering, including the British Ambassador at Brussels and the Belgian Minister of the Colonies. A Press Association cable states that Waller covered 4000 miles in 3439 minutes, including stops. The last laps of 1100 miles was covered in 299 minutes. “WILL GO ANYWHERE” Comet Available For Charter Brussels, December 28. “Will go anywhere at 200 miles an hour in a Comet,” is the substance of a “Times” advertisement, in which Ken Waller, on behalf of Mr. Rubin, announces that the Comet is available for public charter. Mr. Rubin’s representative says that Waller will take anyone to Australia or elsewhere at half-a-crown a mile. Flights shorter than 1000 miles are hardly worth while. FLIGHTS BY RUMANIANS Plane Leaving For Australia (Received December 30, 6.30 p.m. ) (Bucharest, December 29. A monoplane built in Rumania and named King Carol of Rumania, is leaving on Sunday for Australia. The machine is to be piloted by M. Vassile Dumitrescu, a young lawyer, aged 29 years, and a companion named Frimu. King Carol farewelled tlie airmen, who plan to reach Darwin in nine days. Dumitrescu and Frimu are flying a Rumanian two-seater tourer monoplane with a top speed of 160 miles an hour and-a cruising speed of 125 miles an hour. Other Rumanians will simultaneously be flying to Calcutta- and Cape Town. TOUR OF AUSTRALIA Plans of Lord Sempill (Received December 30, 6.30 p.m.) Sydney, December 30. Lord Sempill is planning a 10,000 miles journey through Australia, visiting Canberra, Melbourne, Tasmania, Adelaide, and Perth, before leaving for home. INSURED FOR £35,000 (Received December 30, 6.30 p.m.) Amsterdam, December 29. Tlie “flying hotel” Douglas air liner, which crashed en route from Cairo to Bagdad, was insured for approximately £35,000 with a London company.
