British railway companies are spending £10,000,000 on developments in 1935. The Great Western Railway is building 95 locomotives, including ten of the Castle type similar to the Cheltenham Flyer, the world's fastest steam train. Other companies are planning Diesel engines, streamlined carriages, the further electrification of lines, and the improvement of stations. In addition, 13,530 passenger and goods vehicles to cope with the greater traffic demands following the revival in trade and extension through cheap travel are to be built.
