Cloudy and Sultry in Wellington

At Wellington tlie weather was fine yesterday, although mostly cloudy in the afternoon. A northerly breeze prevailed in the morning, and it turned to tlie south ipst before noon. Conditions, however, continued to be rather sultry. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 66 degrees and-tlie maximum during the day 77.2 degrees. The weather was hot and sunny in I’almerston North.' with scattered clouds.

The weather was blazing hot in Wanganui.. Although there were signs of heavy rain inland, none fell in the city and its environs.
