PICTON EXCURSION
New Year’s Day Though the annual Marlborough Rowing Regatta will be the principal attraction for holiday-makers by the Wahine’s excursion to I’icton on New Year’s Day, there will be plenty of other things to do during the vessel’s stay iu port. A special train will leave for Blenheim aftqr the Wahine’s arrival, returning after lunch in time to catch her on the back trip. Launches will take passengers to some of the charming bays on the other side of Queen Charlotte Sound, where lunch may be obained nt the boarding-houses, in one or two cases after a walk over the hill with unforgettable views of Queen Charlotte Sound and Kenepuru Sound. Then there are the Waterworks Reserve, Shakespeare Bay and many other delightful pithiic spots, in the neighbourhood of the town. The Wahine will leave the Wellington wharf at 8 mm., arriving at Picton about 10.45 a.m. The return trip will commence nt 2.30 p.m.. mid the vessel should berth again in Wellington somewhat after 5 p.m.
