MIRAMAR DRAINAGE
£lOO,OOO LOAN NECESSARY The Works Committee last night recommended to the City Council that the Public Health Board be requested to grant authority for the raising of a loan of approximately £lOO,OOO for the laying of stormwater drains, sewers and water pipes in the Miramai and other districts. The original figure recommended by the committee was £90,000, but Councillor Bennett asked leave to amend the amount, which was granted, the Mayor stating that, of course, the committee would not take that as authority without submitting plans for the approval of the committee and the Council. Councillor Bennett agreed, and replied that £lOO 000 would meet about half lhe cost of these works for storm water drainage and sewerage. The former was in Mi’amar only, but the sewerage works were in various districts, and the sum of £lOO.OOO would take them over two years. after which thev could go to the Loans Board for the balance. Details of the works would be submitted | in due course. The recommendation was adopted.
