TO-DAY’S WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, March 1, 4 p.m. An extensive anti-cyclone is now centred over New Zealand with a very slight depression approaching Otago. Forecast: Moderate northerly winds prevailing north of New Plymouth and Napier, freshening north to west winds, thence southwards and becoming strong at times in Cook and boveaux Straits. Seas rough in Foveaux Strait and later in Cook Strait region, elsewhere smooth to moderate seas in New Zealand waters. North to north-west winds over the Tasman Sea, and fresh to strong in western and southern portions, with rather rough seas, but moderate winds and seas in the north and east portions. Weather cloudy in South Otago and parts of Westland, with some scattered showers extending possibly to parts of the East Coast south of Castlepoint, otherwise fair to fine, with warm temperatures.
