Suburban prices are not quoted:— Vegetables. — Cauliflowers are 9d. to !/■ each; cabbages are 4d. to (id. each; inarrows are 3d. and 4d. each; cucumbers are 2d. to 4d- each; pumpkin is 2d. lb.; beetroot is 3d. per bundle; carrots, parsnips and turnips are 3d. per bunch; spring onions are 2d per bunch; onions are 3d. per Ib.; swedes are 2d. per lb.; green peas are 3d- lb.; French beans and butter beans are 3d. lb. Fish.—Round fish is fid. and 7d. lb.; flat fish is lOd. lb., and smoked fish lOd. to 1/1 lb. Meat.—Forequarters of lamb are Bd. lb.; chops for stewing are 7d. lb.; corned pork is 9d. lb.; gravy beef is sd. lb.; sirloin of beef is Od. lb., and ribs of beef are 7d. lb.; legs of mutton are 9d. and lOd. lb., and mutton chops sell at 9d. lb. Tripe, 6d. lb.; mincemeat sd. lb.; corned beef 7d. and Sd. per lb.; beef sausages are 6d. lb., and pork sausages Sd. and t()d. Ib. Fruit.—Watermelons are fid. lb. Grapes are 1/6 to 3/- lb.; grape fruit are fid. and Bd. each; pears are 3d. to Cd. lb.; blackberries are 6d. lb.; peaches are fid. to 1/- lb.; bananas are priced at from 8 for 1/- to 18 for a 1/-; apricots arc fid. to lOd. lb.; plums are 3d. to Bd. lb.; tomatoes are 4d. and fid lb.; eating apples are Id. and fid. lb.; lemons are 3d. each, and oranges 3/- and 4/- doz. Groceries.—New laid eggs are 2/2 doz.; pullets’ eggs are still 1/6 doz.; good table butter is 1/0 lb-, and pure whey butter 1/4 lb. Cooked ham is 2/2 and 2/fi lb.; prunes are fid. lb.; salmon is fid. and 1/8 tin: mild cheese is ltd. and I/- lb.; matured cheese is 1/- and 1/4 Ib.: N.Z. Stilton cheese is 3/- lb.; condensed milk is Od. and 1/- per tin; dates are Bd. packet, and 4d. Ib. loose. Sugar is 16/6 for a 70lb. bag; bulk honey and elover honey sell at Kid. lb.; rice. sago, barley and tapioca are ail 3d. Ib.
