MAN DROWNED AT PETONE
A single man, John Lawler, aged 35, who had been employed by the Gear Meat Company, was found drowned on the Petone beach at 9.45 yesterday morning. Deceased shared the same room as his brother at 15 Sydney Street, Petone, and was found to be missing from his bed at 4.30 a.m. Lawler had recently been receiving medical attention for pleurisy. There were no marks of violence on the body, which had evidently been in the water for several hours.
