Watts, and Cn.’s (London) Irjimp steamer Highgate berthed at the Taranaki Street Wharf yesterday morning to discharge 2000 tons of bitumen <10.121 barrels) for Hie Wellington City Corporation The vessel part loaded at San Francisco, and left there on January 17 for San Pedro, where she completed her cargo. After unloading her bitumen al Wellington, the Highgate will leave here on Monday for Westport to load bunker coal, and will proceed thence to Bunbury and Fremantle to put out the remainder of her cargo, 65,750 eases of oil and 2000 barrels of lubricating oil. Cabled news has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Co. that the Hororata arrived at Halifax ou Monday from Auckland, via New York, en route t London. The vessel sailed from Auckland ou January 21. PORT BOWEN STILL DELAYED. Th C. and D. Line received news from Gisborne yesterday that the Port Bowen arrived back in the roadstead there at 1 o’clock in the morning, the weather having improved. There was still too much sea. however, ami loading cannot be resumed before this morning. The ship will leave this evening for Napier and Wellington. She is now expected at Wellington on Sunday, and will sail next Wednesday for New Plymouth and Auckland, to fill up. lIERMINIUS TO LOAD. The Shaw, Savill aud Albiou Company report that the Iferminius, which arrived at Auckland at 7 p.m. on Tuesday Irani Antwerp, on completion of discharge will commence loading for Loudon, Avonmouth. Shortly after 7 o’clock yesterday morning the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Ruapehu arrived in the stream at Wellington from London and Southampton. via the Panama route. Pratique was granted, and the ship berthed at the King’s Wharf at 9.30 a.in. to disembark her passengers. The vessel ’oaded at London, and then proceeded to Southampton, to pick up lier passengers and mails. She left the latter port on January 19. Strong winds and heavy seas were encountered for the first five days. Fine weather then set in, and continued until Monday, when the Ruapehu ran into a southerly gale, and high seas, which lasted until Monday afternoon. Line announces that the Port Albany sailed from New York on Saturday with general cargo to put out at Auckland. Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. %e vessel is due at Auckland about March 31, aud at Wellington ten days later. MATAKANA AT LONDON. News by cablegram has beeu received by the Shaw. Savill and Albion Company that the Matakana arrived at London on Tuesday afternoon from Wellington.. The vessel sailed from here on January 20. THE WESTMORELAND. The Federal Company advise that the Westmoreland, at present discharging Liverpool cargo at Auckland, will leave the hitter port on Saturday for Napier and Wellington. She is due here next Thursday. HERTFORD LOADING HERE. The Hertford arrived at Wellington yesterday morning from Lyttelton, to fill up. She berthed at the Glasgow Wharf. The vessel is to sail from Wellington ou Saturday afternoon for Southampton and London, via Panama.

The Union Company has received news that the Sussex, from Newcastle, arrived at Batavia on February 26. She will proceed thence to Sourabaya, leaving there on March 5 for Calcutta. The Sussex is fixed to load at Calcutta during March and early in April, for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, completing at Rangoon, Penang, Singapore, and Saniarang. MANUKA LEAVES MELBOURNE. Cabled news received by the Ur ion Company reports that the Mauuka cleared Melbourne at 10.15 a.m. yesterday for Wellington direct. The vessel is Die here on Monday morning, and is timed to leave hero later the same day for Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff. She is scheduled to clear the last-named port on March 10 for Melbourne, via Milford Sound. KARETU REPORTS. The Union Company advise that tho Karetu, from South Australian ports and Melbourne, is expected to arrive at Auckland at 5 p.m. to-day, to commence discharge. She is expected to leave Auckland on Saturday for Portland, New Plymouth. Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. to complete discharge, and should arrive here about the end of next week. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Captain G. Klee is new master of the Janie Seddon, in place of Captain Inkster, who has retired. MICCELLA NEOUS. The Middlesex will leave Picton at 5 o'clock this evening for Wanganui roadstead and Wellington. The vessel is duo here on Sunday. The liner Rotorua is to sail from Wellington at 3 p.m. to-day for Auckland to complete discharge of her London cargo. The Port Hunter left Wellington yesterday afternoon for Lyttelton for further discharge of her Liverpool cargo. She will have Lyttelton to-morrow for Dunedin ..The Cauadian Challenger moved from the city wharves to Miramar Wharf yesterday afternoon. She is to sail early this morning for Auckland. The liner Arawa left Napier last evening for Waikokopu. The Mahana, which arrived at Gisborne on Tuesday night frqm Newcastle, will leave Gisborne to-morrow for Napier. The Matatua arrived at Oamaru at 10 a.m. yesterday from Lyttelton. She is to sail to-morrow for Nelson. The Poolta will now leave here tomorrow for Greymouth. The Kaltuna was to have left Auckland yesterday for Greymouth. to load for Nanier and Wellington. The Kartigi is due here to-day from Westport. The Kurow, from Bluff, via ports, is due here to-day. and will go on to Auckland. The Kanna was to have cleared Auckland yesterday for Greymouth, to load for Wellington. The Kaponga is now expected to leave Portland to-morrow with cement for New Plvinouth. Wellington, and Lyttelton. The Kaiinnnawa is to leave Westport to-dav for Napier and Wellington The Kamona was to have left Dunedin last night for Timaru. Lyttelton, Wellington. and Auckland. The Kahlka is to load at Dunedin on Monday for Wellington. Napier, and Gsiborne. The Kaimai is now to leave Greymouth this morning for Wellington. ' The Breeze, due here to-morrow from Wanganui, will now leave later the same day for Picton and southern ports. The Corinna, from New Plymouth, is due here on Sunday, and will leave again on Monday for southern ports. The Parera. due here to-morrow from Napier and Gisborne, will now leave again next Tuesday for the same ports. The Gale, from southern ports, is due here on Saturday, and will go on to W angauui. Tho John is now due here on Saturday from Lyttelton, and will go on to Wanganui and New Plymouth. Due here to-morrow from southern ports, the Progress will go on to New Plymouth and Port Waikato.
