BOXING

HEENEY-DELANEY BOUT ROUNDING OFF THEIR PREPARATIONS (Rec. February 29, 8.5 p.m.) New York, February 29. Delaney and Heeney have completed their work for Friday’s bout. Heeney is spending most of to-day resting, while Delaney boxed four rounds, punched a bag, skipped with a rope and took a long walk during the morning. Heeney will take a short jog on the road to-morrow, while Delaney will take brief setting-up exercises. Both men will weigh in tomorrow.

GRIME TO AGAIN MEET GARCIA New York, February 28. Billy Grime is scheduled for a return bout with Garcia at Baltimore on March 12. Grime’s manager states that the last bout should have been a decision for Grime, but was called a draw on account of a mistake in one of the. judge’s figures. HAY DEFEATS SMITHERAM. BY Telegraph -Pkess association Napier, February 29. “Artie” Hay (Hastings), lOst. 51b., to-night beat F. Smitheram (Dunedin), lOst. 21b., in a ten-round bout, which went the full distance. Smitheram, though beaten all the way, put up a wonderfully game fight. In the second bout, Dave Palmer (Australia), lOst. 31b., knocked out Hughes (Dunedin), lOst. 21b., in the sixth round of a very tame fight. The programme was under the auspices of the Napier Boxing Association.
