PAVING WORK DONE
SUBURBAN HIGHWAYS At the meeting of the Suburban Highways Board yesterday, the engineer reported that since the last meeting a length of 19 chains near Windy Point, Main Road, Eastbourne, which could not be paved last year owing to the necessity for widening, had been completed, connecting up Day’s Bay Road with the paving already done in Eastbourne. The approach to Rona Bay wharf, eight chains, had also been completed, and preparation work was in hand, on the main road south of last year’s work. Preparation work had been done and the paving would be commenced shortly of tlie ramps at the railway overbridge, Petone. The plant at Ngahauranga would be ready for work in a few days’ time. The decision in regard to the central pier in the Hutt Road was reported, and it was decided to pave the read for the whole width, and in the meantime to ascertain the legal position in regard to other than rubbertyred traffic being allowed on the bitu men surface at this point.
