Downey’s house was totally destroyed; and his wife just got out in time, with two children. An unconfirmed report states that the Kohu station woolshed, owned by Mr. George Kirk, was destroyed. The settlers on the Waitangaha station were forced to leave their places and bury their household goods. Mr. A. C. Woods’s house at Lottin Point was in danger all night , , , At the last report the danger had diminished. At the soldier _ settlement fires were raging, but no buildings had been, destroyed so far.
