WELLINGTON REMITS. The Municipal Associations Conference will be held in Nelson, opening on March 14 The Wellington City Council (which will be represented by the Mavor and Councillors, H. D. Bennett and T. C. A. Hislop) has given notice of the following remits:— “Debentures issued in respect of special loans should be binding, on the local authority according to their tenor when issued under seal, whether they are authorised or not This would give much more value to these debentures which are assignable to bearer. Any person taking them would have no fear about the title. “(a) The practice of putting two or more loan proposals on one paper should be validated or expressly prohibited, (bl The method of voting (on loan proposals) should he the same as under the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1920. “That provision be made for absent voters’ permits, as in the case of Parlinme«tarv elections or polls. “Motor drivers and motor cyclists licenses should be subject to cancellation or suspension on, a first conviction for exceeding speed limits. They are subject to cancellation on a third conviction.’!
