OLYMPIC COUNCIL
MORL MONEY RECEIVED. A meeting of the New Zealand Olympic Council w-is held last night, Mr. J. \V. Heenan occupying the chair. The chairman reported that iu the past week £123 Us. had been received tovuirds the Olympic Fund. This included a donation of £lO6 from Sir Douglas McLean, and the following sums:—A. Hart. (New Puvinouth), £1 Is.; E. Da'ie f.New Flyuicutli), £2 25.; D. Camer >n (llinnkura), £3; D. E. Young (Wnangarei), £1 Is.; J. P. Maxwell (Wellington). £2; J. G. Duncan (Wellington), £5 55.; G. P. Aldridge Wellington). £1 Is.; G. Bridga (Wellington), £1 Is. Lists had been sent to Canterbury, Otago, Auckland. Southland. Napier, Palmerston North districts, and to social clubs, hotels, and Government Departincnls bv permission of the Prime Minister. Public Service Commissioner, and Postmaster-General. Lists were also to bo sent ’o police stations and business concerns. Mr. IL Alpe proposed walking from Palmerston North to Wellington, starting on St. Patrick’s .Day. A team of ladies was to assist him in a street collection in Palmerston North on March 16, and it was possible that a car would bring tho ladies to Wellington, collectin’ al. all the main towns en route. The New Zealand Rowing Association lias arranjpfl a Tucr-tiug of rowing in?u in Wanganui on Friday next, during Hie New Zealand championships, to push 'he appeal in rowing circles.
