LABOUR’S ATTITUDE TOWARDS SAMOA
4 CRITICISED BY MINISTER. by Telegraph.—press association. Auckland, February 27. The Hou. 0. J. Hawken delivered a speech at Papal oetoe to-night. The Minister criticised Labour’s attitude towards Samoa, stating that Labour was traditionally hostile to British methods of government. "Like the Maori, the Samoan is easily swayed.” said Mr, Hawken. "and only a firm hand will bring them out of their unrest. The attitude of Labour toward the Samoan complex was jusl what might have been expected from past expert erice, except that in this ease Labour, because it suited it. had allied itself with the wealthy traders.”
