INFECTIOUS DISEASES
INCREASE IN SCARLET FEVER The bulletin of infectious diseases for the week ended noon yesterday shows a decrease of one in the total number of cases reported. There is a good deal of scarlet fever about, fourteen cases being recorded in the Central Wellington District. There were seven cases of tuberculosis in the WairarapaEast Cape area. Following are the details from the hospital districts, figures in parentheses being for the previous week. Wanganui — Horowhenua. — Scarlet fever, 5 (5) ; diphtheria, 1 (3) ; pneumontia.t 3 (0) ; puerperal fever, 1 (1) ; tuberculosis, 0 (1). Total, 10 (10). Wairarapa—East Cape.—Scarlet fever, I (5) ; diphtheria, 1 (2) ; tuberculosis, 7 ( I) ; puerperal fever, 0 (1) ; pneumonia, 0 (1). Total, 12 (13). Central Wellington.—Scarlet fever, 14 (10); diphtheria, 2 (0), tuberculosis, 2 (3) ; pneumonia, 1 (3) ; septic abortion, 0 (1); ervsipelas, 0 (1). Total, .19 (18). Nelson—Marlborough.—Tuberculosis, 1 (1) ; scarlet fever, 0 (1). Total, 1 (2). Grand Total, 12 (13).
