TO-DAY’S WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office. Wellington, February 27, 4 p.m. A cyclone is centred east of the North Island and an anti-cyclone on the Tasman Sea. The forecast is for moderate to strong southerly winds, reaching gale force in parts of the Cook Strait region, but decreasing gradually. Rather rough to rough seas prevailing in New Zealand waters, but moderating in the south and on the West Coast. Moderate to fresh south to east winds, and moderate to rather rough decreasing seas in the Tasman Sea. Fine weather in Southern Otago and on the West Coast of the South Island; elsewhere cloudy and showery, but improving gradually from the south; cold temperatures.
