MAIMED SCHOOLBOY
JURY GRANTS £lOOO DA-MAGES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercargill. February 27. A claim for £lOOO general damages and £l2O 12s. hospital fees was upheld by the jury in the case John Herbtsoli Kerr versus David Baird. Plaintiff, a schoolboy, was cycling along Oreti beach Road to Invercargill on May (1 last when defendant, the driver of a motor-lorry, overtook him and ran him down, inflicting severe injuries to the right leg. Med’cal evidence attested that ’he boy woiiTd probably lose his leg below the knee, and will never regain the full use even if it is not amputated.
