YOUNG MAN DROWNED

BY Telegraph.—press association. Dunedin, February 26. Charles Cunningham, aged 20, whose parents live at Palmerston, was drowned whilst bathing in the river Leith on Saturday. Cunningham and two friends were bathing in a deep hole close to the George Street bridge, when he was seen to be in difficulties. One of his mates and several young men attempted a rescue, but despite repeated attempts the body disappeared. It was found under a ledge of rock about half an hour afterwards.
