TO SETTLE IN AUCKLAND Dominion Special Service. Auckland, February 26. Sines the New Zealand lon jump record is 23ft. 3iin„ the arrival at Auckland of a young inan, who has covered 23ft. Glin. is of some athletic interest. The newcomer is C. E. AV. Macintosh, capped for Oxford and Scotland at Rugby, and possessor of a remarkable sporting record. He and his wife are an interesting couple. Lady Jean Macintosh is the elder daughter of the Duke of Hamilton, Scotland’s premier peer. Before her marriage she was Lady Jean Douglas Hamilton, and her brother is the Marquess of Clydesdale, a clever amateur boxer, known to (he sporting world as "the fighting marquess." Mr. Macintosh and Lad? Jean come to Auckland on a visit to the former’s aunt. Finding they liked New Zealand, they have taken a house with the intention of staying. As Macintosh is a first-class threequarter, the fact that he intends to turn out here, probably for tho Auckland University team, will interest all followers of tho Rugby game. He' played for Scotland in 1924.
