STORM BREWING
AUSTRIA AND ITALY TREATMENT OF TYROLESE GERMANS (Rec. February 26, 5.5 p.m.) London, February 25. A storm is blowing up between Austria and Italy. A fierce controversy culminated in a debate in the Austrian Chamber, when a Tyrol member, with unanimous approval, indicted in a lengthy address Italian administration in South Tyrol, in which there are two hundred thousand Germans. He and otiiers made amazing allegations of illtreatment of German women as well as men, the breaking up of homes, and a denial of free speech. . Dr. Seipel said: “The state of affairs weighs, on my heart, but Austria must rely on the opinion of the world, for she is powerless.” ITALIAN MINISTER RECALLED (Rec. February 26, 5.5 p.m.) Rome, February 25. The “Giornal d’ltalia” says ’Mussolini has decided to recall the Italian Minister from Vienna in the meantime. Two deputies presented a question in the Chamber wherein an allusion was made to the campaign of lies in responsible quarters in Austria.
