The late Mr. Trevor Shannon, of Waituna West, Feilding, whose death was caused bv a gun accident whilst, out shooting rabbits, was born at Clifton Terrace Wellington, and was the voutigest son of the late Mr. G. V. Shannon, who was many vears chief Customs expert. He was educated at Wellington College and was very keen on all sports. Later on when he went to live in Feilding district he played polo and took a great interest in it. The funeral took place at Waituna West and was attended bv relatives and friends from Wellington, Palmerston North, Dannevirke, 'and Wanganui. He leaves a widow and two children.
The appointment of Air. H. B. Whitehead, Al. Sc., as dairy research bacteriologist has been approved by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. Air Whitehead, who was chosen for the position out of 33 applicants, took his degree at Leeds University. At the College of Medicine, Newcastle-on-Tyne he has been demonstrator and lecturer in bacteriology. In addition to much original research work he has to his credit a number of published works. Air. Whitehead will probably arrive in New. Zealand next September.
